Hello March. Chapter 3 of 12.
Hello March… the month of spring (yay!), St Patrick’s day (sláinte!) and International Women’s Day (rock on sistahs!).

March is also the month of #courage. March was named for the Roman god of war, Mars, and it signified a time when soldiers would return to war after a winter break. Furthermore, March babies are blessed with two birthstones: aquamarine, and bloodstone which symbolize courage.

There has been no greater courage I’ve needed to harness in my life than getting a divorce. I never talk about it socially because 1) I respect my ex and I want to honor his privacy and 2) for a long time it felt shameful and I didn’t know where to start.
.
But here I am. On #InternationalWomensDay, I am writing this post so I can serve anyone who is needing some courage to make a change in their life.

Back then, my process was to blurt things out and then hide. I would build up enough courage, say the hard thing, and then retreat. I’d bury my head in the sand. I lied to myself and others so I wouldn’t hurt anyone. I’d work late to not have to deal. I’m sure you can imagine how well that went.

My process NOW, whenever I need to harness courage, (yay progress!) is to tap into my #values and my #innerwisdom. Values are the signposts of life. They are the guiding principles in which I make my decisions. When I was changing careers, moving cities and finding love again — yup, my values were front and center. My values are: FUN, CREATIVITY, INDEPENDENCE, SPIRITUALITY and EXPLORATION.

When I tap into my value system, I silence others voices and gain confidence in my own path. No one walks my path except for me… and no one walks yours except for you. Yet, we live with other people’s perspectives and voices in our heads. Often times louder than our own.
